The Fashion House Atelier, owned by the famous Emirati designer, Fatema Fardan, is located in the heart of Dubai’s Design District. Because of the owner’s diverse culture influences, her obsession with pop-art, and her contemporary eclectic taste, the design of the Atelier converged to a concept reminiscent of a London art studio; inspired by Industrial Modernism with old Georgian brick-wall architecture. The design intention is to create a workshop on one side, and a showroom on the other, separated by an ample versatile space in between, which can be used for multitude purposes, ranging from fitting rooms, model casting, product showcasing and even served as an extension of an additional workshop. One of the intentions of the design is to enclose the workshop using French glass windows, not only to insulate the sounds of the sewing machines, but simultaneously to showcase the actual process of garment making.
